A prototype in progress, Homegrown (stylized “homegrown”) is an open-source web game I’m building in the Godot Game Engine. The central idea: start on a small, abandoned island and grow a little community there. I am creating it as an educational resource for game developers, so its codebase is always improving and becoming more readable as I learn. It’s written in GDScript, a language similar to Python. When I have time (as summer gets started), I’ll make educational posts about it here on my website.
